Referral Commissions and Affiliate Partnerships
New Zealand Finance earns revenue primarily through referral commissions. When a user clicks on a “Compare,” “Apply,” or “Get a Quote” button on our site and completes an application with a financial provider, we may receive a commission or referral fee from that provider.
These partnerships exist with a range of New Zealand financial institutions and providers across personal loans, home loans, car finance, business finance, insurance, and KiwiSaver products. Not every provider listed on our site has a commercial relationship with us — some are listed purely on editorial merit.
Does This Affect Our Editorial Content?
No. Our editorial content, rankings, and comparisons are determined by our editorial team independently of our commercial relationships. Financial providers cannot pay to rank higher in our comparisons, to receive positive editorial coverage, or to have competitors removed from our tables.
Our editorial team follows the standards set out in our Editorial Policy, and our commercial team cannot override or influence editorial decisions. If a product ranks well in our comparison, it is because of its features, rates, or value to New Zealand consumers — not because of any commercial arrangement.
Display Advertising
New Zealand Finance may display advertising from financial providers on our website. Display advertisements are clearly distinguishable from editorial content. Advertisers have no influence over the editorial content adjacent to their advertisements.
Sponsored Content
On occasion, New Zealand Finance may publish sponsored articles or branded content on behalf of financial providers. All sponsored content is clearly labelled as “Sponsored” so readers can identify it as paid content. Sponsored content is not subject to the same independent editorial review process as our organic content, though it must meet our minimum accuracy and compliance standards.
Product Listings and Tables
Our product comparison tables aim to include the most relevant and competitive options available in New Zealand. The default sort order in our tables is typically based on editorial relevance or interest rate, not commercial relationships. Where a product’s placement is commercially influenced, this will be disclosed clearly within the table.
